I was about 4 months pregnant with Matilda when we decided we wanted to cloth diaper. This was purely a choice based on the environment and money. Never did I imagine it would become a hobby. I dove head first into the huge amount of information that is available online. I was amazed at all the choices that were open to us and at times it was very overwhelming. I found a great review site called Diaper Pin which helped guide my choices on starting my stash.
Once I decided I was going to go with prefold diapers and Thirsties covers, I began ordering. Nicki’s Diapers is my favorite online retailer for cloth diapers. They have a huge selection and their customer service is great. After awhile, I decided I wanted to branch out and try pocket diapers, fitteds and all in ones (AIOs). I initially stumbled upon Bella Bottoms for wipes. They are the best wipes I own and they are still in new condition after being washed countless times. I decided I wanted to try her diapers and they are just as good as the wipes. She hand makes all of her fitteds, pockets and AIOs from Austin, TX. The quality is amazing and the price can’t be beat. I have also bought some AIOs and fitteds from a local company called Little Smudgeez. Great product and also reasonably priced.
Next come all the accessories. You will need wet bags to store dirty diapers. Hands down the best ones out there are from Happy Tushies. I have washed her bags every time I wash my diapers and they show no sign of wearing out. She stopped doing custom orders for awhile and was only selling to retailers, but she has opened up her store again and I highly recommend her products. She also sells wonderful changing pads and diaper bags.
Please check this page regularly as I will be updating it with my favorite cloth diapering resources.
